Irish woman puts husband on sale with ‘no return policy’ after he sets off on a fishing trip, leaving her at home with kids
World going online has made shopping so much easy and hassle free. But have you ever come across an advertisement for a husband on sale? Sounds pretty weird, right?
Well, an Irish woman recently put her husband up for ‘sale’ on an auction website after he went on a fishing trip, leaving her home with their kids.
In the advert, listed on
TradeMe site (kind of like eBay) in New Zealand, the woman mentioned her husband’s pros and cons to fetch a good bargain.
The woman, recognised as Linda McAlister, mentioned in her advertisement that her husband, John, is 37 years old, 6 foot 1 and a beef farmer.
The couple got married in Ireland in 2019, and currently lives in NZ with their two boys – a 4-year-old and 6-year-old. The woman decided to put her husband on sale after he took off on a fishing trip during the school holidays, leaving her home to take care of their kids.
The advert, listed on TradeMe sitet, which was later taken down by the website.
“As he is a shootin’, and fishin’ sort of fellow it’s not unusual behaviour, but with kids on school holidays and bed times slipping later and later, they are all driving me wild,” McAlister told

The advert gained a lot of attention online for its quirky and detailed description of the husband who was put on sale.
For instance, the woman in the ad assured buyers about John’s loyalty, adding that he just needs to be fed and watered.
McAlister gets funnier as she takes a dig at her husband adding that the “sale is final, no returns or exchanges”.
The woman also cautions buyers that her husband needs house training and at the moment, she doesn’t have the time, nor the patience to do it herself.
The auction which left the husband himself pretty amused, hit NZD100 (around Rs 5,000) in a few hours on the website before it was taken down for breaching the site’s terms and conditions.
“While we love seeing Kiwis having fun, ultimately our priority is ensuring all of our members have a great experience onsite,”
TradeMe told
